Commerce Meaning
Commerce deals with the distribution and exchange of goods and services. In this chapter, you will learn about the concept of commerce and the elements of commerce. The competencies developed will enable you to identify and engage in some commercial activities that will allow you to earn income.
The term commerce is derived from the Latin word “commercium” which is formed by two words, “com” meaning “together” and “merx” meaning “merchandise” or “goods”.
Therefore, ‘Commerce’ is about exchanging goods and services together. Commerce entails all activities from the distribution and exchange of goods and services, to the point where they reach a final consumer and therefore, satisfy human needs and wants.
